While CooRnet focuses on a specific type of coordination, it also support the process of spotting in-authenticity. In this thread, we provide a few examples based on the context we know better: Italy. While the cases are local, results are of general interest. (2/17)
The new CooRnet::get_component_summary function lists the main domains referenced by a coordinated network with a measure of the dispersion around different domains and the weighted average NewsGuard score. (3/17)
Working on this data, it was relatively easy to find the following examples of news outlets using repurposed popular Facebook pages to feed their content to a largely unaware audience (4/17)
The first case concern a network of nine entities that repeatedly shares 2 domains [[ http://tg24-ore.com"> http://tg24-ore.com ]] (“Newscast h 24” - NewGuard Rating = 0) & [[ http://curiosity-online.com"> http://curiosity-online.com ]], both Italian online journals mainly publish far-right hyper-partisan news & disinformation (5/17)
Among these entities, the Facebook page "Foto che ti daranno fastidio" ("Irritating photos") - http://www.facebook.com/fotocheturbano ">https://www.facebook.com/fotochetu... - 567k likes used to publish memes and fun facts (e.g. in the following figure) (6/17)
However, during January 2020 this page started to systematically publish a large amount of links to the aforementioned domains (chart courtesy of @crowdtangle intelligence feature) (7/17)
The 2nd case is [[ http://ognigiornomagazine.net"> http://ognigiornomagazine.net ]] a network composed of 22 Facebook entities mainly sharing disinformation & rumors published by Ogni giorno magazine (Everyday Magazine) and other news sources, such as [[ http://newsvarie.net"> http://newsvarie.net ]] & [[ http://salute24.com"> http://salute24.com ]] (9/17)
While few of these pages clearly show their affiliation with ognigiornomagazine, many others don& #39;t. This is the case for
Natura (Nature) Fanpage ( https://www.facebook.com/pg/NaturaFanpage2012),">https://www.facebook.com/pg/Natura... about 781k likes which recently started posting links to the aforementioned domains (10/17)

Third and last example for the same network Follia (Madness - https://www.facebook.com/Folliaoriginalfanpage/),">https://www.facebook.com/Folliaori... about 153k likes. Again the venue gained its popularity for memes and then started posting unrelated links (12/17)
The third network share links to http://notizie.it"> http://notizie.it , a respectful news outlet rated 87.5 by @NewsGuardRating. Nevertheless, the distribution of its content leverage a set of inauthentic and re-purposed pages (13/17)
The page "Serie TV - Gomorra Notizie" (TV series - Gomorra News - https://www.facebook.com/serietvnotizie/ ),">https://www.facebook.com/serietvno... about 350k likes, started as a fan page of a popular TV series and now shares generic news-stories from http://notizie.it"> http://notizie.it (14/17)
Similar trajectory has been been followed by Selfies Imbarazzanti (Embarassing Selfies - https://www.facebook.com/selfimbarazzantiofficial/)">https://www.facebook.com/selfimbar... 108k likes (15/17)
The final example concern the domain http://occhioallanotizia.it"> http://occhioallanotizia.it that benefits by the distribution of the page, among others, Il meglio di “Tumblr”. (The best of Tumblr. - 210k likes) ( https://www.facebook.com/occhiogossip/ ).">https://www.facebook.com/occhiogos... In this case we went from statuses to memes to links (16/17)
