We romanticise “untouched” (whether that’s accurate or not) pastoral rural communities a lot and as such often neglect to appreciate industrial towns, villages & industries in general. Industries may be controversial for poor treatment to workers or transformation of landscape...
Or any number of reasons that make them less aesthetically pleasing or easy to romanticise...
But I’m so interested in the PEOPLE of these industrial places. The workers and their families. What did they do in their free time? Did they sing, dance, write poetry? The nature of industrial towns and villages in rural areas is this is where a lot of people WERE.
