Please audit all the research institutes, identify the high cost equipment, incentivise Indian manufacturers to make those equipment. This will be a double master stroke. We will increase our self dependence in S&T, and bolster our research facilities.

This will increase our presence in the research, reduce our import bill and will give us opportunity to also export to developing neighbours.

Let us take a targeted approach to reduce this dependence on foreign vendors.

Initially both the industry and the R&D labs will need some trust building. Industry can be given financial incentives to make in India, and R&D inst can be given special funding to get these equipment.

PS Do not use the ABA or MII to stifle the research and do not stop purchase of foreign equipment till we have developed the capability to manufacture those of our own with international quality. This should be an opportunity to strengthen not weaken our manufacturing & research
