Applying for the government's Self-Employment Income Support Scheme. A thread...
1/18 Go to the website ( https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-a-grant-through-the-self-employment-income-support-scheme?fbclid=IwAR0HfkXxHd_PNGYuq4RpF3maA6LUDR2dNLlU9jqB79buaJBzdwE8cvz9AX4) and go to 'Start now'.
2/18
Enter your UTR. This should be numbers only.
3/18
Enter your National Insurance number. It's advisable to use capital letters, because some people were told they were ineligible when they didn't use capital letters with the eligibility checker.
4/18
You will (hopefully) be told you are eligible to make a claim. Go to 'Continue'.
5/18
Use your Government Gateway user ID to sign into the system. If you don't have one you need to create one using the second link (I haven't included the process of doing that because I already had one).
6/18
Sign in using your Government Gateway username and password.
7/18
Choose how to receive your Government Gateway access code.
8/18
Enter the access code you are sent by text / shown in your app (depending on your choice on the previous page).
9/18
This page contains information only, and is essentially a legal declaration that the various things mentioned are true.
10/18
Enter your full name, email address and mobile number.
11/18
The moment of truth; you will be shown the amount of your grant along with a breakdown of how this has been calculated. This page is just for information, and you don't need to do anything other than go to 'Continue'.
12/18
Select the type of bank account you want your grant to be paid into.
13/18
Enter your name as it appears on your bank account (MR A N OTHER etc.), your sort code and account number. You only need to enter a Building society roll number if you have a certain type of building society account.
14/18
Enter your postcode and property name or number. This needs to be YOURS and not the bank or building society's.
15/18
Select the correct address from the list (there may just be one option). If your address is not listed you can enter it manually by using the link.
16/18
All of the details you have entered on the previous few pages will be listed here for you to check. If all is correct go to 'Continue'.
17/18
This page is a legal declaration that the listed conditions are true. Most importantly, you are declaring that your business has been adversely affected by coronavirus. Go to 'Accept and submit' to submit your application.
18/18
This final page will confirm your claim has been submitted, the amount of your grant, and your claim reference number. There is nothing further to do. Your grant will be paid into your bank account in the next six working days after you apply.
Footnote: If you think the amount of the grant is wrong you are still encouraged by HMRC to complete your claim to guarantee a payment.
