THREAD : I think I've finally hit on why Chibnall is not a good fit for the head of #DoctorWho

But I just want to make it clear I'm not Chibnall or Thirteen hater, whilst I have had my criticisms, of the last two series I have still enjoy them & Jodie IS The Doctor...end of!
I've been rewatching Life On Mars, for which Chibnall penned a couple of episodes and it's dawn on me why Chibnall isn't suited for Doctor Who...because it's not aimed at an adult audience, he much more suited to writing adult things, rather than "family" aimed and as such...
...I think he's tried to go too far the other direction at times and make some of his show runner time Doctor Who episodes, very child friendly.
Here are some examples of what I mean regarding his past work :
Life On Mars - S1EP7
A small time drug dealer is killed in police custody, leading to the discovery of police corruption, cover up & malpractice

Life On Mars - S2EP2
Slightly different plot but the same as above, police corruption & cover up of events including murder
Torchwood

Day One - Murder
Cyberwoman - Mutilation
Countrycide - Cannibalism
End Of Day - General death & destruction
Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang - Explicit Homoeroticism
Adrift - Loss, grief & terror
Fragments - Loss, grief & criminal activities
Exit Wounds - Betrayal, loss & death
Broadchurch
Crime drama about child abuse, murder, rape, betrayal, revenge...need I say more

Law & Order UK
Not something I've seen myself it's a late night crime drama...so logic dictates it's for adults
Doctor Who (pre-show runner) :
42 - Murder, "malpractice", general terro
Hungry Earth/Cold Blood - Murder, War, vivisection, live experimentation
Dino On A Spaceship - Murder, poaching, black market trafficking
Power Of 3 - General death & destruction, attempted genocide
Now he's done lots more but looking at all of those you can see it's VERY adult orientated, even the pre-show runner Doctor Who episodes he did are quite dark and certainly PG

By no mean is Chibnall a bad writer, if anything I think the opposite, but only when it comes to....
...gritty adult stories. Doctor Who is a family program, which means it needs to be a mix of child friendly & adult entertainment, and when I say mix I mean each week a bit of both...not one week one thing and another week the other...it just doesn't work
