Kind of a long tweet so sorry in advance My wife is not on twitter and I’ll say you’re lying if any of you tell her about this but I have to share. in our home during this trying time we have settled into roles that typically fall to others.
Even though I’m a teacher that role to our 4 yr old has been absorbed by my wife. It was never talked about but when the need arose , she filled in. In the last two months I’ve watched and at the beginning I’d want to jump in with some teaching strategy or critique her style
For those that know Gemma , you know why I didn’t https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy">. At first it was mostly transactional..follow direction , do your work, get back to what you and I want to do. The evolution of the teacher in her as been amazing. This morning when our daughter randomly read a word i saw this
Gemma realized her influence, her power to teach. It immediately gave her the sense of accomplishment that us teachers get all the time. I hope that this pandemic develops a new community of educators even as they return to their day jobs. The power of teaching transforms all
