I'd been able to work remotely from home successfully since noon March 16. But today I did not have that option because the State Board of Education is holding a retreat and the only option for the public to watch is to attend at the Board office in Boise, which is what I'm doing
I asked State Board officials for a dial in code or video link, wondering if the public could watch remotely. I was told by three people I had to attend in person.
And now I'm sitting here in the State Board office watching a video stream of a meeting I was forced to attend in person.
There are only three of us in the room, a lot of sanitizer is provided and seats and table space are taped off to maintain social distancing. But I still don't feel 100 percent comfortable being here.
I don't understand why I'm watching forced to watch a stream of a meeting that is taking place in the next room and why the stream was not provided to allow the public to watch remotely from home.
This is the sign on the outside of the Len B Jordan building where the meeting is taking place. Door is unlocked, FYI
To make this uncomfortable situation more interesting, the State Board is experiencing technical difficulties with the video conference. Many State Board members and the facilitator are attending via video feed.
