Shoutout to @JerryLEADS for putting together this booklet with historical #Dallas information.
For those who want to know why Jane "Elkins" was hung, apparently she killed the man she was loaned out to by her slave owner.

Split his head wide open with an axe.
Quote from another site:
"The trial notes don’t say why, but it's assumed she was raped, or protecting her children. Supposedly she answered, 'Yes, and I’d do it again!'
"The trial notes record that she had 'nothing [else] to say.' She knew she would die. This may have been her sacrifice for her children."
Please feel free to RT any or all of this. Much of Dallas's history, especially it's black history, has been diluted, erased, or forgotten. It's extremely important to me, as it should be to you, to learn about our city's history: the good, bad, and ugly.
