And funding for Link Markets, fresh food
Operation Food Search: Before the pandemic, 14% county residents experience food insecurity. Now it's 41 percent. "There are many people going to bed hungry or not knowing where they will find their next meals." Provides food to 200 agencies, feeding 200K people every month.
Food Bank currently has 58 drive-thru events scheduled in May alone. Grant will afford 10 more mobile sites, for 40K more meals each week. Also can provide food to 80 community agencies, totaling 85,000 more meals weekly.
Urban League's Michael McMillan they have already given 13K individuals $600K worth of food. Grant will allow to continue and deliver directly to households. "75 percent of people going through our large distribution say they have never been a food line in their entire lives."
