references/symbols I noticed in @WE_THE_BOYZ's Generation Z Identity Film ✧*。
disclaimer !!!
• I don't claim that the following are, in any way, the sole meaning of the identity film. this is just how I interpret it.
KEVIN REFERENCE 🏹
We Need to Talk About Kevin is a 2011 drama/thriller film by Lynne Ramsay in which Eva, the main character, struggles with motherhood because of his son, Kevin, whose problematic schemes doesn't seem to fade away even when he grew up.
In the film, Kevin holds a bow and arrow. It symbolizes the only time he showed his mother affection, but also the very weapon he used to commit a crime which landed him to prison.
THOUGHTS 💭
• Aside from Kevin from We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011) being Kevin Moon's namesake, the use of this reference made me think of two possible meanings of TBZ Kevin's film part:
(1) We need to address Kevin as a whole (his overall personality, the implications of his acts/speeches, etc.) and not just the side of him we like because not doing so can lead to an even bigger problem later on
(2) The bow and arrow which symbolizes the first time Kevin's mother from WNTTAK (2011) getting his otherwise apathetic son to open up can both be a symbol of bonding/connection and a weapon.

Meaning, if we talk/know more about TBZ Kevin, it could either harm/benefit his image
Q REFERENCE 👬👬👬👬👬👬
Why Can't Q Be Depressed is a pun made out of Why Can't We Be Friends?, a 1975 song by a band War.
THOUGHTS 💭
• According to Genius, WCWBF is a song about suppressing how you feel or what a certain action done by others make you feel just so you can stay as a friends and/or keep a hood impression.
Just like how Q have to supress/isn't supposed to feel sad/depressed because of his prior image.
HYUNJAE SYMBOL 🎨🗿
Hyunjae as art/living statue
THOUGHTS 💭

Art is often dubbed as a form of self expression, in which various mediums of art (visual, performance, etc.) all seek to showcase/interpret reality as an artist perceives it.

Hyunjae is known for being honest and telling the truth and/or what he truly feels.
I also love the contrast of two things. Some perceive that art is somehow symbolistic, with details usually having deep meanings. The message is delivered implicitly. However, Hyunjae is expresses himself unapologetically explicit.

(also, Hyunjae art because he beautiful)
JACOB SYMBOL

RED IS THE BLOOD OF ANGRY MEN
🖍🖍🖍
"Wanna be angry, Jacob?"
Here, we see Jacob wearing red clothes. Red mostly symbolizes anger and bravery. Jacob has a "nice boy you wanna take home to mom" image, but that doesn't mean he isn't allowed to be/doesn't feel angry.
YOUNGHOON INTERPRETATION

"Jealousy makes Younghoon icy"
They say jealousy proves that love is a raging fire inside you, as it often sparks people into action and be more sensitive (fighting for love, confessing, etc.) However, jealousy makes Younghoon icy...
It can mean that (a) he becomes 'icy' or loses interest and just lets the thing he wants to have come to him on its own, or (b) he can lose emotions and care for anything else just to achieve that thing.
NEW REFERENCE 👥

Don't Get Moody New Wrong is derived from the phrase don't get me wrong which is usually a disclaimer to avoid misunderstanding. It is used whenever someone says something that other people might perceive as offensive, even when it's not.
JUYEON SYMBOL

Juyeon is into drag racing here, a sport that is often perceives as a field for 'bad boys'.
Race cars are also very loud, in contrast to Juyeon's quiet persona.
SANGYEON INTERPRETATION

Leaders are often the ones who are more noticeable/charismatic/unique. Not saying that Sangyeon isn't that, but he prefers to be calm and collected. His ways are strong and simple, but that doesn't mean it isn't as effective/attractive.
SUNWOO SYMBOL

Here we see Sunwoo telling that he's struggling with insecurity/feeling of inferiority. A shot of him atop the ladder can be interpreted as him being able to rise above the insecurities, but a shot of him behind a fence can indicate that maybe he isn't totally free
