Okay so, I’m a little sad. I was asked to do this thing and it was a pretty cool opportunity and several activists I really admire were involved and my part got cut but some Parents Of Disabled Children did not have their parts cut and idk. Of *course* their voices get included.
I just. I am trying so hard to fight for what very limited space there is for disabled people to talk about what we face, and to fight to make more of it. And I cannot compete with nondisabled parents; they’re seen as infinitely more relatable than any disabled person themselves.
And it’s not just that they take up space where space is already so limited, but it’s also that when they do, it’s usually to talk about how much of a burden their disabled child is. Which sucks.
