why do i feel like jeongwon’s actually going to go to the seminary but is later going to realize that he wants to be a doctor more? #HospitalPlaylist
we’re not sure of what jeongwon’s actual motivation for being a priest is—if it’s a lifelong dream or something that was triggered by a certain event or idea. BUT—

#HospitalPlaylist
—we do know that sometimes he thinks that he doesnt deserve to be a doctor because he feels too much. for someone who empathizes and loves so easily, it’s extremely hard to have a job where death is a common occurrence. the reason doesn’t have to be complicated
#HospitalPlaylist
it must be so hard for jeongwon. i’m not saying the other characters aren’t the same—but we’ve seen how much jeongwon beats himself up for every single failure. the amount of pain that being a doctor has must be excruciating for him.

#HospitalPlaylist
it could be possible that he sees being a priest as an easier alternative—a job where he can both help others and be closer to God. BUT as miss @khanaslife said, that would feel too much like running away, which in our opinion, isn’t the best reason.

#HospitalPlaylist
i’m not saying it’s wrong to prioritize your mental health when you’re in a stressful situation—he can do that, and i wont blame him if he does. but for someone like jeongwon, he’s going to live the rest of his life thinking “what if?”—

#HospitalPlaylist
and that’s hardly a better alternative. how many kids could he have saved if he were still a doctor? how many surgeries could he have funded? what if he was the doctor in this certain surgery—maybe the kid wouldn’t have died?

#HospitalPlaylist
^these statements might sound like i’m shaming him but im not. these are thoughts that come naturally for people who make life-changing decisions, and it’s surely going to be the questions he’s going to ask himself.

#HospitalPlaylist
if (and only IF) jeongwon’s reason to become a priest is because it’s too hard, he’s going to eventually have to choose between himself and his patients—and we all know which one he’s going to choose.

#HospitalPlaylist
if he has another reason, then i don’t really know. maybe being a priest WOULD be much better. if it’s a lifelong dream, then the only way to stop him is if he finds a bigger dream. and honestly, i don’t really want romance to be it.

i mean, there’s nothing wrong with choosing love over being a priest but his defining characteristics are his kindness and willingness to drop everything to help others—and i just want his biggest decision to come back to that.

#HospitalPlaylist #WinterGarden
personally, i find helping people face-to-face to be much more fulfilling than other ways of helping. also, i find that if i have the ability to help others but cant because of external restrictions, i end up feeling even more down that if i didnt have any means to help at all.
i don’t know if it’s the same for him, but i’m willing to bet that it is. and if it is, the choices are clear: dream to become a priest vs patients—these are the choices that should matter when it comes to developing his character.
in a writing class, my prof told me the best way to develop characters is to put them in difficult situations, and this is as difficult as it could get for him. i hope he chooses the one that makes him happy and fulfilled, and not just comfortable.
