Today, I’ve decided to give you a peak inside a day in the life of a GIS Specialist leading the #COVID19 response here in the great state of Missouri. Get ready for the play by play.

Let’s catch up to this point.
👉🏼 Just moved to a new house last weekend, so I dug through some boxes to find clothing.
👉🏼 Get ready to leave; my two year old throws a tantrum screaming “mommy virus over” Delayed
👉🏼 Blare music, chug diet mt dew on my 65 mile commute to Jeff
👉🏼 Arrived at *undisclosed location* PPE warehouse that we are shipping out of. When I arrived here in March they had a paper work flow. Proud to say they are using #Survey123 form for ordering now, the crowdsourcing app for approving. More on that at 2pm on @fema geospatial call
First things first, a million questions on if I have been around anyone with a fever, cough, etc. I got cleared to work at the warehouse! 🤟🏻
👉🏼 First meeting of the day in the books. We hold an internal GIS huddle of what has been done in the last 24 hours and what’s coming up the pipe. We use trello to track what’s going on (data updates, applications in production, etc.). Brilliant idea of my twin @DebbieBriedwell
👉🏼 9:30 meeting number 2️⃣ in the works; The state public health lab has arrived to discuss how we will distribute the COVID test kits that will start arriving. They aren’t coming into the warehouse together (media, swabs, etc). GIS is here share our online ordering system.
👉🏼 Runnnnnnning to... Meeting number 3️⃣ Microcell meeting on Missouri PPE. 😷

▶️ Demand estimates
▶️ PPE reserves
▶️ Request changes on #Survey123 PPE ordering form

Only have 34 unread emails at this point due to being in meetings. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Oh it’s Wednesday - you know what that means? ITSD ticket received

Flu mapping day; yes we map the flu every week from CDC Week 40 2019 (October) - Week 20 2020 (May). We place the flu maps into a tabbed storymap that goes into a by week tabbed map.

▶️setting aside for now! 🤦🏻‍♀️
Request came in from NGO to add food insecurity data into our COVID Hub site.

Haven’t seen our COVID GIS Hub site?

JUST IN 🦠🦠🦠🧪🧪🧪

Urgent map showing death, cases, percent changes in cases, etc. mock up has arrived. Rough draft due tomorrow, final product to show the cabinet by Friday. We will be making this new product in @ArcGISOnline

No pressure. Day 66 is proving to be a real joy.
Quick conference call with @HealthyLivingMo Hospital Preparedness Preparedness Director teleconferencing in the Division of Disability and Senior Service Director on the backend database on current PPE consumption rates.
▶️ Daily COVID SITREP call with multiple state agencies and the governors office in progress. Leaving the lab and heading to my office - oh and maybe lunch?
Ready to present Missouri’s PPE ordering @esriSurvey123 solution on the @fema National Geospatial Coordination Call. Missouri is being highlighted as a best practice state on the call today. 🦠🧪✅ #weservemo #teamitsd

Still haven’t ate, pushing to make the 2 new case deadline.
Presentation complete, T minus 20 minutes to push out the new case data- for that I’m using @esri pro!
🦠🧪🦠🧪 Boom made the deadline.

56 unread emails 🤦🏻‍♀️ No lunch and another meeting looming. Time to head to the vending machine, after this call ends.

Look who tweeted my map seconds after completing it ❤️🦠🧪 https://twitter.com/healthylivingmo/status/1260645147261337600
Quick catch up with our fearless SEMA director (who is a huge GIS fan and keeps me supplied with endless amounts of Dt. Mt. Dew) and the state recovery coordinator who are meeting about flooding - yes I said it the F word.
Came back to my office and somehow the door is locked from the inside. And food! I got food!
I don’t know what number meeting this is. BUT it’s ran by one of OAs best @crystalwessing 👊🏼
5:30 - work isn’t done but I’m heading the 65 mile trip north to our farm to have supper with my family.
👉🏼 still chugging diet @MountainDew
👉🏼 I use my evening commute to listen to @GovParsonMO 3pm briefing that I miss during the day due to meetings
Made it home to an amazing early birthday meal from my parents. I honestly don’t know how I would of worked these last 66 days without them and my husband- childcare, meals, etc. 🦠🧪
Trying to get some work in before bedtime. Husband is giving me sweaty hands and a near panic attack being on this latter. 🤦🏻‍♀️
