Thread Regarding Angel Gomes...

We have to be respectful towards his ambition and not look to blame the club or the player if he does decide to leave. #mufc

Angel obviously wants to have much more game time than we are willing to offer at the moment and it’s good to see that it’s not all about the £30,000 a week either.

I think it’s just unfortunate for Angel that at the moment there are players much further ahead in the pecking order and that’s not me saying he isn’t good enough because trust me, I’ve watched Angel for many years and this young lad has the potential to go right to the very top.

People can say Angel hasn’t been given enough chances which is fair enough however, the manager and the coaching staff see Angel in training every day and if they think he’s not at that level yet then I completely trust their judgement.

Also, before anyone talks about Tahith Chong signing a new deal and Angel Gomes stalling, Tahith is obviously content with the very minimal game time he was offered as well as being happy with the £30,000 a week salary, so for me that comparison is completely irrelevant.

Angel Gomes wants to play more first-team football and at the moment that is something we probably can not offer much of at Manchester United. I really admire his ambition and I will wish him all the very best if he does decide to move on.
