Day 37 of @NavigatorSurvey tracking poll: Over the course of tracking, Trump's coronavirus approval rating with older voters 55+ has steadily dipped going from +17 to +10 to -1 to now -6. This is consistent with numerous polls showing Trump's standing sliding w/ older Americans.
Over the last few weeks, the negative conversation around Trump has shifted from injecting bleach to concerns over reopening too soon and him not doing enough.
The word that best describes voters' concerns with Trump's response to the pandemic is unprepared.
Trump's approval ratings across the board remain under water, with disapprove aligning at 53% on his overall approval, his health care approval, and his coronavirus approval.
For the first time in our daily tracking poll, more people say the economy is in a recession (43%) than it is headed towards one (40%).
While there has clearly been a disproportionate impact of coronavirus on urban areas, it's also worth noting that impact has been widespread across the country. Even in small town & rural areas, 23% know someone who has been infected and 59% know someone who has lost a job.
There has been some coverage in the media of boycotts of stores like COSTCO that require you to wear a mask. What that coverage is missing is that mask requirements are GOOD for business!! People are far MORE likely than LESS likely to shop somewhere that has a mask requirement.
The rationale behind the so-called "movement" to boycott stores requiring masks is completely rejected by the American people. 84% say stores requiring masks are acting responsibly to protect health. 16% say those stores are violating American values & freedoms. Not a close call.
