The story sprouted yesterday when the governor's office released data on daily Covid-19 hospital deaths and daily Covid-19 hospitalization numbers for Erie County and the five-county group being measured together for "reopening" purposes.
We knew already the state concluded that WNY was failing to meet two of the seven criteria, but we finally got to see the actual numbers behind the assessments.
The death data we received from the state was different than what we had been getting, which came from counties. This new data is Covid-19 deaths per day in the hospital. All along, we have been getting total Covid-19 deaths, regardless of where the death occurred.
And the new data actually gave us the dates of death, rather than just the day the deaths were reported by the counties.
