I feel so sorry for those aged 18 at the moment:

1/n For those trying to enter the world of work post-A-levels, they are entering the market during the start of what will undoubtedly be a massive recession.

Typical first jobs - bars, shops, cafes, admin - will all be scarce.
2/n For those going to university, the learning might still be available (albeit different), but the first-year uni experience won't be. University is about freedom, meeting people, doing silly things, drinking, shared experiences. It's about discovering a new side to yourself
3/n For those that decide to delay - take a gap year - cheap travel is gone (any travel is rather constrained). No backpacking through asia. Now you just wander through English countryside.

And saving money for the trip - no jobs (see 1.)
4/n Can now legally drink? No pubs. No Gatherings. It's just you, with a can of scrumpy and a judgemental look on your parents face.
5/n Escaping your parents. Nuh-uh. Whether you start uni or not, your locked down at home.
