Overjoyed for all the wonderful colleagues announcing promotion news this week. Wish we could celebrate in person! But heart also heavy for those who will have been told to wait a year (a familiar refrain for women in academia especially); and now face a hinted promotion freeze.
How will future promotion and hiring committees take COVID-19 into account? Will universities be tracking data on long-term (intersectional) effects on career trajectories? Are they doing robust equality impact assessments on their policy decisions?
