why mcu wanda is racist and an injustice to her comic origins, and why marvel overall needs to grow up and learn to give characters a proper story, a thread;

first of all. comic wanda is N O T white. please, for everyone's good, just read the comics. if you don't want to read the comics, run a damn google search of "wanda maximoff's comic origins" or "wanda maximoff ethnicity" or something similar. she is a mix of two cultures. +

she is romani-jewish. her mother, natalya maximoff (sister of django maximoff) is roma, and her father, erik lehenserr is jewish.

marvel has on multiple occasions, fetishized wanda's origin and used slurs like g*psy. i will attach images and examples of this below. +

okay, now that marvel comics has been established as racist and accused of fetishization (fetishization has also taken place for numerous other female characters, although for different reasons), mcu wanda is a whitewashed and completely retconned version of wanda maximoff +

the twins being acknowledged as magneto's children. now this poses problems because then their roma heritage must be taken into account. which means things are going to get offensive and even more racist really quickly, because of who they cast as wanda maximoff. +

now this could all have easily been avoided if from the beginning, marvel had chosen to stick to their origin stories and been committed enough to the characters to find actors/actresses of roma origin to fit into the role. another problem is that they did not think ahead +

they did not think of the implications of this alternate origin story with the same identities as the comics. creating different characters with the same powers would have avoided this dilemma. now we talk about the plot for MoM and why this is EXTREMELY concerning. +

Multiverse of Madness is a movie whose plot is obviously heavily inspired by the comic known as House of Madness. this storyline demonises wanda's mental illness. in wandavision, she is set to warp the fabric of reality and create alternate dimensions to help cope with her loss +

now in multiverse of madness, based on this, wanda will either be projected as a force of evil who broke reality, or as a scared little lamb who can't protect herself from her own abilities. she is NEITHER of those things. the storyline implies that she is schizophrenic. +

this, now is another example of marvel being inconsistent with their work. if wanda had been portrayed as a schizophrenic from the beginning, then this would have been an interesting character developmental line to explore with a superhero who suffers from a mental disability. +

but because marvel does not think forward, this was not the case. moving forward to how the way she got her powers was inconsistent. according to the comics, wanda's chaos magic comes from the ancient spirit of chaos chthon who is trapped in wundagore mountain. however, in +

the mcu, she gets these exact powers from the mind stone which is highly confusing. chaos magic cannot come from any other source !! it is only possible to get it from chthon, so the mcu origin story contradicts the facts laid down by the comics. so marvel, what the hell? +

now going back to the fetishized costume i attached a while back. not only is that an extremely unrealistic representation of the roma culture, it is absolutely inaccurate when compared to wanda's region of origin and her time. marvel, please learn to put in research. +
