A lot of women were subjected to mad emotional manipulation by their mothers, attacked with it, moulded by it, to the point that in order to survive they had to become manipulative themselves.

Listen to the way they formulate sentences and the choice of words they use.
Especially within the Afro-Caribbean households.

Driving anxiety and stress by simple statements such as..

“Look how you left the dishes on side, this is why you will never be able to find a husband/ keep a man”

Imagine hearing this a million times...?
“You will never keep a man”

“You will never find a husband”

Imagine hearing that from the age of 11/12?

So by the time she is able to get into a relationship, she is already riddled with the insecurity of losing the man before getting to truly know him.

So she manipulates
She manipulates him, to try to keep him, in order to prove her mother wrong but by being manipulative she ends up losing him or being so intense with him he is put off by her thus proving her mother right.

“You will never keep a man”
All because of dishes you know.

Two two dishes she didn’t wash
