District administration @DCDK9 of Dakshina kannada utterly failed to treat the expatriates fairly, who returned from dubai yesterday. It is pathetic that the officials themselves were harrasing the expatriates.

Even pregnant women complained of them being harrased. Quarantine facility is forced in few selected hotels, and the cost of accommodation has to borne by expatriates themselves, which is too expensive, which is nearly Rs 2000/ day.

With the lost jobs, empty pockets , the returned expatriates are not even given chance of taking other less expensive quarantine facilities in darul irshad, etc. This is grossly inhumane and violates basic human rights.

@DCDK9 has announced 17 quarantine facilities including lodges & hostels of several institutions, which included Darul irshad Mani, Al madeena center. However when expatriates returned from dubai yesterday which had 176 passengers,

out of which 33 passengers which mostly included elderly women, pregnants & children had priorly demanded for quarentine facilities in Darul Irshad Mani & Al Madeena Centre, But the officials forced the already financially burdened people to go to very expensive lodges.

Reality was @DCDK9 authoritaties never appointed officials, heath workers for quarantine facilities & were inefficient in creating adequate facilities in the said two institutions. So they were forcing these helpless people to expensive lodges.

Some activists like @AthavullahJkt of SDPI collected contact no. of stranded ones inside airport & contacted Mr Rahul IAS, Probationary officer who is incharge of this process. After several calls this officer attends the call & requests the activists

To convince the stranded expatriates to temporarily go to lodges for quarantine and assured to shift them to Darul Irshad & Al Madeena next day. Also it is said he has admitted that @DCDK9 has failed to appoint officials in these two administration.

Taking his word activists were successful in convincing the victims and later on shifted to selected expensive lodges. But once all these was done the tone of the officer is now seemed to change saying they need to be in lodges for 14 days.

Meanwhile the expats have complained that they were not provided even a bottle of water by concerned authorities present there.
This shows the administrative inefficiency of @DCDK9 administration.

A pregnant Lady with tears shares audio of her experience with her family in WhatsApp which translates "If there is any life left, never step into Mangalore Airport. They didn't even look at the aspect of pregnancy and tortured and harassed."

There were about 500police in & around airport. MAY THEY BE CURSED FOR THEIR DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR. The Drivers, Police, Staff intentionally harassed us. I have been shifted along with 2 more pregnant ladies."

This shows the administrative inefficiency of @DCDK9 administration to manage the situation. Before this happened already Several NGOs wanted to provide necessary food and quarantine facilities for abroad returnees but the apathetic district admin. is not ready to cooperate.

The whole episode seems like the @DCDK9 targeting the expatriates under someones pressure.
We demand @DCDK9 administration to shift the expats to Darul Itshad & Al Madina Quarantine facilities & Coordinate with NGOs to provide necessary facilities.
