Dear Baba @MBuhari,

This is from a Buharist, not an Ex-Buharist. This is from someone who has been supporting your candidacy from day one to date, & still believe in what you are doing, not all of it though. And that's why I want to talk about the security situation we are in.
It is no more tales of a child about his missing homework, full of excuses, that the security situation in, especially, Northern Nigeria is pathetic, to say the least. From Maiduguri to Katsina, Niger state to Zamfara, Kaduna to Benue & pockets of such almost in every state.
May be those around the President do not tell him exactly how bad things are. May be the state Governors also are not as serious with the security situation as they're with other activities they focus on, or the President is just too weak to handle the insecurity we are facing.
Whatever the case may be, there is a huge incapacity symbol on the forehead of every state governor in whose state security has failed. There is such symbol on the forehead of the president, for presiding over a country that isn't safe for the people. What have we gained so far?
If you ask me personally, the North hasn't achieved anything tangible under this administration, & the relative security we enjoy in the past, apart from the Bokoharam ridden states & pockets of such insurgency in some places, is fast becoming a history.
Today, people cannot sleep comfortably in their homes anymore, except the politicians that are in control of the security apparatus in the country, & tend to share the policemen among themselves for their safety, not minding the situation of others in the state.
Traveling on northern Nigerian highways is fast becoming a suicide mission, with no exception whether you're traveling during the day or night. Bandits have taken almost the entire region hostage, & for clear political reasons, nobody is talking in the language they should.
The Northern political class is quiet. The religious clerics are silent, & speak out only when the attack gets to one of them. The royal fathers are not taking political stance, the type we saw them took during the Ebele Era when things went this bad. Sad & unfortunate, isn't it?
As a leader, if you cannot ensure the safety of life & properties of your subject, whatever you have achieved is useless. Roads? Schools? Economy? Are all these meant for the dead to enjoy or the living? When someone dies, how are your roads or schools useful to him?
When your failure as leaders allow people to become preys in the hands of bandits, kidnappers, Bokoharamists & so on, you are indirectly complicit in such crime, because you are bring paid with tax payers monies to do the job you failed. This is sad & unacceptable.
For everyone that feels he isn't affected by the insecurity & so he won't stand against it, you are not being smart an inch. When it is somebody today, it will be you or yours tomorrow. That we support some policies of our leaders doesn't mean we should blindly follow them.
We support them when they act right, but we call their attention when they go wrong. We pray for them to succeed, but they cannot succeed by prayers alone, they have to stand up & work. This is a clarion call to everyone who cares about the insecurity in Northern Nigeria.
We saw how the southwest Governors stood up when they begin to see the ugly faces of insecurity. The Wole Soyinkas spoke & the Govs acted. Wole Soyinka might not speak for the situation in the North in such terms, may be it doesn't affect him directly. For political reasons,
and ofcourse constituency proximity, do not expect anybody who has a voice from other regions but risk his political relevance to speak against the ugly state we are in. If today we keep quiet because President @MBuhari is a northerners & we voted him in, do we have the moral
right to speak tomorrow when someone from the south south or southwest becomes the President of Nigeria? Or is irresponsibility only when it is coming from another region not someone from ours, or someone we voted? As I always say, the two figures I still hold in high esteem
with so much respect & admiration are President @MBuhari & Gov @elrufai. That doesn't mean we should keep quiet when we see clear & unacceptable lapses from them. This applies to everyone, even the closest people to my heart. It doesn't mean I hate them. It means, I love them.
We should remember this day, & another day that we will stand before the Almighty God & account for our actions.
