Since a lot of MyDays have been talking about anxiety because of Day6's announcement. Here are some information about what anxiety is really about :)

This is from the DSM-5, the ultimate guide/principal authority when it comes to psychiatric diagnoses.
DSM - Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. I'm using the 5th edition (obviously).
So to put it simply, anxiety is FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN.

'Fear' triggers our autonomic responses like our fight or flight response, our body anticipates that there is a danger that would happen to us at the moment or there is an IMMEDIATE THREAT.
Now anxiety is different. It fears the unknown because the source has not happened yet as they are based on the FUTURE.

People with anxiety would try to AVOID those things from happening and they tend to OVERESTIMATE these circumstances.
So this term isn't new to y'all - PANIC ATTACKS.

They are the manifestations or the response to fear. They also serve as a descriptive specifier not only for anxiety disorders but for other mental disorders as well.
"Panic Attacks are abrupt surges of intense fear or intense discomfort that reach a peak within minutes, accompanied by physical and/or cognitive symptoms"
Panic Attacks could either be:

1. Expected - the source/reason behind the fear is suddenly presented or appeared in front of the individual.
2. Unexpected - the panic attacks happen for NO apparent reason.
So a person with anxiety disorder has a hard time when it comes to work or school performance.

They feel:
1. Restless; always on the edge
2. Easily fatigued
3. Has difficulty in concentrating
4. Irritable
5. experience muscle tension
6. sleep disturbance
Anxiety Disorders:
1. Separation anxiety disorder
2. Selective Mutism
3. Agoraphobia
4. Social Anxiety Disorder/Social Phobia
5. Panic Disorder
6. Generalized Anxiety Disorder
7. Specific Phobia
On which one the Day6 members is experiencing? We'll never know and we SHOULDN'T even try to know.

RESPEKT PLS.
Sad to say, some individuals don't even know that they have anxiety because they mistake it for simple fear and they think that it'll pass if they ignore it.

So please if you feel something is wrong, ASK FOR HELP.
TREATMENT.

Of course, you need to go see a doctor/health professional and be diagnosed so they could give you the appropriate/accurate medications.
Most of the people with anxiety disorders respond well to these treatments:

Psychotherapy or the 'talk therapy' and medications. They could be given alone or combined, depends on the diagnosis.

(I got this from the APA website, the DSM-5 is just so long. SPARE ME.)
But even though there are psychiatrists, therapies and medicines that could be given. The effort of the person himself is very important!! If he wants to get better and puts his all into all the medications he needs to do, it drastically increases the chances of recovering!! :))
So yeah, if you reached the end of this thread, then CONGRATULATIOOOONS.

I made this thread hoping that MyDays would understand more what really is the situation that's happening with our lovely boys. Let's all hope for their speedy recovery!!
Also, if you see any incorrect information in this thread then feel free to call me out!! I'm still a undergrad psych student so pointing out those mistakes would be very informative/enlightening lol
