Obviously it’s pointless making any kind of conclusion from a few remarks to the press as Pompeo and Netanyahu go in to their meeting, but it does sound almost as if the main thing on Pompeo’s agenda for the visit is getting Israel to join the US in an anti-China alliance.

This is the key quote, and it looked like Pompeo was making a particular point to say it in his short public remarks. Netanyahu didn’t respond to this.

FWIW there is absolutely nothing that Pompeo needs to fly 11 hours from DC with his entourage to hear in Jerusalem that he cannot be told over secure line. He and Bibi are meeting today to coordinate their plans for the day after Trump whom they both know will be gone by January.
