Why the USA doesn’t produce a lot of talent. A thread
Pay to play is very important. It costs around $3000 a year for kids to play competitive soccer. With travel, equipment and other costs, that price can double. Obviously some families can’t afford to pay these prices. You’re losing out on a lot of talent because of this
The coaching at the grassroots level isn’t the best. Many coaches were given licenses in previous years without really knowing much about the game it was more about having a coach available and not how much they knew.
Football in college. It’s laughed at in many countries but it’s a gateway to MLS in US. There is no coaching badge requirements and over 200 teams in Division 1 alone with unqualified coaches. Time players could spend developing under qualified coaches is wasted in college.
Relegation: If you want to implement a competitive nature in your domestic league then relegation has to be a component. Clubs can have a bad season and still be in the same league next year. Basically no consequences for being bad.
Developing is still in progress: After the US failed to qualify for the World Cup in 2018 everything was scraped and started off new. New ideas were brought in, help from European nations was taken, a shake in the pecking order.
US federation and coaches not on the same page. Take it from me I’m currently on my D License, I’ve been in those meeting the instructors and coaches don’t see eye to eye. Some of the instructors can’t even properly answer questions about why some stuff are being taught. Not good
To continue on that point, there’s still questions that need to be answered. When I was on my license many coaches were in uproar in things being introduced. If the coaches don’t believe in what you’re doing then there’s no way they’re going to teach their players what you’re say
End of thread: In conclusion the US has a long way to go to reach other countries. The goal is 10 years but it’ll probably be longer
