It was only a half-joke when I called this a dress rehearsal for the working class uprising.

Truly the last thing us regular $15 or less an hour stiffs need is an example of one of the strongest unions in the country caving to reduced wages and being praised for it in the press https://twitter.com/amandamull/status/1260200910636138500
I'm truly worried this pandemic is going to force people who must work for money to work harder for even less, as living costs continue to rise, and further risk their safety for a pittance. We need the media to be on *our* side for this one instead of writing for clicks
so yeah baseball is largely made up of people privileged enough to prioritize their safety at the discussion table. They should and I'm glad it's happening. But now regular people are talking about money. And they're talking about money because the writers told them to.
and unfortunately the writers aren't saying "this group of people want to refuse to pay their laborers but expect them to work anyway!", it's "we can't have nice things unless laborers work for less"

AND THAT IS REALLY DANGEROUS RHETORIC when we are actively in a class war
so if I'm running around with my eyeballs on fire talking about athletes' paychecks, bear in mind it's because people will *compare themselves* to the baseball players when their boss comes to them informing them they now make $2 less an hour and if they complain they're fired.
