Radio craft is about more than having a million strong opinions and going on half-hour rants. Interviewing about more than screaming in a guest’s face until they agree with you.

Alan Jones is doing a 1990s talk show where he reads out his own opinion pieces. The craft has developed a lot in three decades and there are a lot of excellent practitioners of it.

Hamish and Andy, when doing their radio show, embrace the audio medium, bring listeners along with them, take risks, and innovate. Jones, with similar resources, does none of these things.

Of course I also think many of my colleagues at the ABC are excellent at radio craft but I know better than to single people out!
