My take on the Heroes Act: Pelosi is coming to the table asking for half a loaf.

The bill is lacking:
- Paycheck Guarantee
- Medicare or Medicaid eligibility expansion
- PPE production
- Increased bailout oversight
- Monthly payments

Those are popular ideas. Why not include?
The Heroes Act also includes a lot of stuff that is questionable or outright bad. Why include bailouts for lobbyists?

At this point, I have to assume Pelosi included what she believes in.

Otherwise, I don’t see why she’d reject some of the most popular progressive priorities.
I think it was a mistake for Pelosi to start out asking for half a loaf. By the time the GOP gets done with it, it’ll just be crumbs.

It’s worse to only give her caucus four days to consider the bill. It’s 1800 pages and $3 trillion. We can’t work to improve it for two weeks?
Pelosi has been telling members of Congress for weeks to push their priorities to the next bill.

This is likely the final relief bill. Future bills will focus more on recovery. It’s now or never.

She’s trying to minimize our leverage — without giving us our priorities.
There is a lot of really good stuff in the bill. I understand why some groups have already come out in favor.

But there is no reason it couldn't be significantly improved in a way that strengthens public support -- which is useful for going at McConnell. It shouldn't be rushed.
