Really odd spring. Just a really really odd spring. Editors note: I am not complaining here only offering out advice which I do often because when I see some frequency on something why not help #agtwitter This thread is to hopefully help promote more uptime in the field. 1/
On Deere planters this year seemingly those with Hydraulic drive is my focus. Remember the key items to make a hyd drive planter to plant are Hyd Flow, Speed/Motion, and Height. Yes electrical is a player but for this thread I’m leaving aside. This year alone I have seen... 2/
The height sensor has come unplugged on 6 seperate planters both 177x/179x. I have replaced or known a couple techs to replace 4 wheel speed/motion sensors. Part#: AA87244. I will be keeping one in my truck the balance of the season. Just was odd to see the frequency. 3/
So hopefully to keep some uptime going check those two sensors out first in event of planter stopping. Do so by going into the planter diagnostics (book and wrench) readings tab and drop down VRD Data. Pick planter up and down to check lift switch activity then. 4/
Then move forward to check wheel motion activity. Odds are one of those might be reading incorrectly. If so, check those two sensors out. They are located on the center frame section left outer wheel. You will see the harness running to them. 5/
The motion sensor should be just nearly touching the spoked wheel of you need to replace. And if it’s lift sensor be sure to follow calibration in the planter diagnostics page as well. Again to conclude, I’m not offering this as a gripe, only a help to those to salvage uptime 6/
Hope everyone who’s still planting has a safe rest of the season, and those who are done, congrats and thanks for coming to my Talk. Full disclosure I’m truly here to help with your uptime best I can this planting season, and maybe sell ya something. 😉7/7
