dumbing down my response to sound whiny actually made me giggle but intentionally adding a layer of complexity to the person messaging me, a stretch. the more narrative ppl like this guy can’t see is a white person throwing a fit for not having rights to the fruits of black labor

can’t believe i have to say this, but someone having one of my techniques obviously does not jeopardize me — but the fact that it doesn’t jeopardize me doesn’t make you entitled to it either. that’s literally why you intern or apprentice for someone

me saying “sorry, trade secrets! ” is probably the cutest nicest way of me saying go figure that shit out. we all use the same tools. and if anything i started in this game with WAY less resources than literally any of my peers...

navigating the world with the understanding that there we no handouts made me go out the and get it, and i am SO much better off for it. seeing that lack of drive in kids is what’s really upsetting to me. that’s a skill i’d rather see someone learn, fuck photoshop

me and the homies used to gawk at mario hugo’s work and scratch our heads to a pulp wondering how he did it, spent long nights on aim trading screenshots of our weak ass attempts lol. but never did i have the urge to email him, bc it would be WAY sicker to crack the code myself

well i still never cracked that code, but it was never my code to crack, it was his. it was my shitty attempts along the way that taught me how to use the tools and develop things of my own, methods that are proprietary to my work and that i’m super proud of discovering myself

anyways, i’m not mad about any of this, nor do i have to even speak on any of this. but it feels very important to go on record every now and then and defend my stance on ppl earning whatever it is they want. that’s a conversation you simply can not step to me to i’m sorry!

man i’m so sad i didn’t get to do my insights lecture this year. the shit i’m about to drop on there would negate this entire discussion for real. my actual story is insane and you will learn a lot more from that than any textures, on god. gonna go rewatch this mj doc love y’all!
