Short thread on ideologies and alliances (mostly India-specific).
Since Modi became PM in 2014, his government hasn't done much in terms of economic reforms. I mean they've pushed through GST, IBC, etc. but the opposition to those has mostly been on implementation terms and not the idea itself.
However, his government done a lot of "social reforms" (article 370 change, CAA, etc.).
This means that through the last six years, libertarians and leftists in India have entered into a cosy alliance. They've mostly been on the same side on political matters

Now that finally (very belatedly IMHO) the government has started moving on potentially controversial economic reforms (labour laws, land laws, etc.), this cosy alliance has started breaking down.
It will be interesting to see how things play out in the next few months. A lot of people will wake up to see that people they thought were "our guys" have massively differing points of opinion on the new axis that has been opened
Also, wokism is an exclusionary ideology (I've always maintained that wokes have successfully appropriated "with us or against us" from the Republicans).
So now that libertarians don't agree with the wokes in terms of economic reforms, need to see if they'll get "cancelled"!
