Katie Porter ran in a California swing district in 2018 on Medicare for All and won.

Mike Levin ran in a California swing district in 2018 on Medicare for All and won.

Katie Hill ran in a California swing district in 2018 on Medicare for All and won.

A total disaster.
Please stop running candidates like this.
This is what a winning candidate looks like. Katie Porter flipped her seat to the Democrats for the first time in generations.

Christy Smith lost running for the *same seat* while opposing Medicare for All.
Josh Harder flipped his district to the Democrats for the first time in generations in 2018 by running on Medicare for All.
Christy Smith has another shot at the seat in November. This is unfortunate seeing as how someone like e.g. Jess Phoenix or Bryan Caforio would be preferable. But it is what it is, and we desperately need her to win to safeguard the Democratic majority.
As such, she needs to change course come November, which must mean including popular policy like Medicare for All in her campaign platform. It's a clear election winner in swing seats, *particularly* swing seats in Southern California.
I’m baffled by some of the discourse surrounding this loss. Blame it on Rona if you want, but the fact of the matter is that Smith *lost* the seat for us running well to the right of her predecessor. If that’s the direction you want for the party, fine, but at least own up to it.
Don't get the point of this tweet. Hill pledged support for Medicare for All at multiple instances in both the primary and general elections and despite being attacked on it won anyway because it's popular policy.
