The Highland District Council is currently holding online elections for board seats. Anyone who lives or works in Highland Park can vote: http://tinyurl.com/hdc-vote

There">https://tinyurl.com/hdc-vote&... are some great candidates, and sadly there are also some truly awful ones.
We had a very difficult year on the HDC. The board was deeply divided on ideological lines which was exacerbated by poor leadership. Meetings and communication were unprofessional and little meaningful business was conducted to help the Highland Park community.
The board failed to weigh in on important issues and spent literally hours arguing about minutia. The architects of that discord are doubling down, endorsing candidates who have shown total incompetence, and who have even been kicked off of the HDC & sued it in the past.
This move is so blatantly provocative and partisan that it defies explanation.
I& #39;ve volunteered on the HDC for 6 years and I& #39;ve enjoyed working with and learning from people of all beliefs. My own beliefs have changed significantly. Until this past year we& #39;ve always found a way to work through challenges and do good work together. I know we can do it again.
From my personal experience I believe the following candidates will best serve Highland Park:
Grid 2: Tim Morehead
Grid 4: Diana Tastad-Damer
Grid 6: Mathews Hollinshead
Grid 8: Michelle Doyle
Grid 10: Bob Whitehead
At-Large (vote for 2): Kevin Vargas and Jack Dobier
I don& #39;t share the same beliefs as everyone I endorsed, but I respect their engagement and their desire to listen & learn. We are supposed to be a body with diversity of thought so that we can fully represent the interests of the community.
There are a few candidates who I have not had the pleasure of meeting. They appear to be very skilled and I hope they will consider participating as community members on a committee or in other ways in the future.
Please help the HDC do good work by taking 2 minutes to vote if you& #39;re eligible, and by sharing this information with others.

To vote you must live or work in Highland Park and you will have to provide your address for registration & validation.
I& #39;m happy to help if you have any questions. DMs are open.
