I think, maybe, this isn't clear to everyone yet--certainly not Americans, or anyone else I can see:

This pandemic is the end of everything, and the start of everything that comes next.

We will need a president with a vision for the NEXT. Or what we are doesn't survive.
We have a window into lessons that show us a brighter, more utopian, "oh it's finally the 21st century!" way forward so this tectonic economic shift, decades in a year, isn't crushing and bleak.

Or else there is revisionism and despair, darkness and smallness.
We have arrived at this road with crippled limbs and absent provisions.

Nonetheless, the way is forward, and hard, for we have many to carry on our shoulders.
