Stop relying on certifications thinking they’re the Golden Gate Bridge into tech. Actually learn the skill. There’s a difference between studying for a test and actually being able to apply the knowledge in real life.
Remember how people used to always argue about who’s better off in the workforce. The “A” student or the “C” student and people would argue that the “C” student would do better in the workforce in particularly tech and let me tell you why
I’m not taking anything away from the “A” student and this is just an hypothetical situation so don’t take it literal and personalize the situation
“A” students are perfectionist and they tend to be afraid of risk of failure. They’re typically by the book students or “rule followers”. You tell them to do something and they do it no problem.
So when studying for certifications that’s exactly what they do, they do they study the certification material and nothing more.

Now you have this “C” student who are usually risk takers, now just b/c they’re a “C” student doesn’t mean they’re not smart
They just don’t really care about the whole idea of letter grades. So with this trait they tend to experiment a little, question things, & wonder why something is done a certain. They may not get the answer correct, but now they a have a thorough understanding why it doesn’t work
Now let’s translate this to studying for a certification. When studying for a certification, people with this mindset tend to thrive in tech b/c instead of directly following directions, they’re innovative and critical thinkers.
They may come across something and instead of just reading the information and memorizing it. They’re actually figuring out why it’s done like and what happens when it’s done incorrectly, which then helps them understand the concept way better than someone who’s just memorizing
To be successful in this industry you have to be a creative and innovative thinking. Sometimes there may be better ways to do certain things. Now I’m not saying being a hard ass and challenge everything, but you’re being paid to make things better.
Just b/c your manager has the team doing something doesn’t mean it’s the most efficient way to do things. You may have find a more efficient way of doing things b/c you were thinking outside the box and decided to “break the rules”.
So this thread wasn’t to say who’s better the “A” or “C” student. I was just giving you scenarios and comparing them to real world situations. So don’t jump on here trying to argue with me about ya grades.
