Then the owners should announce this evening that they have decided to cancel the season. Put up or shut up. https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/1260363191877545984?s=20
Also, it's interesting to see the course the language has taken in all of this. It's becoming pretty clear that we've moved from what's technically feasible to what's just not preferable to the owners. They are looking for profit guarantees, not workability.
There is nothing written on tablets handed down from God Almighty that says Major League Baseball owners are entitled to a set profit. If they are unwilling to mount a baseball season in which they could even possibly face financial losses, maybe they should not be in business.
Either way: owners are obligated to share certain financials with the players. If they're going to claim that they can't feasibly play, they are obligated to establish it, not just say that's their "position" and leak it to their friendly media connections.
Watch this tonight and tomorrow, by the way. Watch how many of your favorite ballwriters uncritically parrot that the owners' "position" is that they will lose more money by playing than not playing. Watch them not even question the premise or its underlying assumptions.
