Can we take a minute to discuss free shipping? And by discuss I mean tell you why it’s not free?

At the end of week 2 of being closed I was doing our accounting and totally accused Noah of dropping thousands on “nonessential Shopify apps”. Ummm, that was shipping!

We dropped 30% of our weekly sales on SHIPPING. Mother of gawd, we spend 50% on goods, 25% on payroll/healthcare, and 15% on overhead. DO THE MATH.

So we had our “come to the baby jesus” meeting with managers and realized “FREE SHIPPING” means one of us doesn’t eat for the month. So we raised the minimum to qualify. Because we ALL NEED TO EAT.

Sure, we could raise our prices to cover shipping but then some asshole will tell us that we charge more than the box store they could shop at that doesn’t pay a living wage and didn’t record hours worth of tutorials for face masks.

And here’s the amazing fucking thing about capitalism: YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY ANYTHING FROM US AND THEN YOU WONT PAY FOR SHIPPING!!!!

I’m not joking. You don’t want to pay $8.80 for standard shipping? Don’t purchase a mask from gather here. Buy that from someone offering free shipping. Oh wait...

No one offering free shipping stitched a dragon print mask with an organic cotton 200 thread count lining with a filter pocket and the option for over ear/over head/fabric ties?!?!? No Fucking Way!

I guess you can pay for us to sew the damn mask, sew a mask for someone in need, and pay the USPS to ship that handcrafted mask to you.
