Someone asked me to do this but for Twitter.

Here's how I think about using Twitter as a tool to learn: https://twitter.com/eriktorenberg/status/1255574856776597504
Think of it as like a shared Google Doc of all your hunches, questions, & learnings.

If you have the kernel of an idea, tweet it.

If you hear a concept & want to remember it, tweet it.

If you have an opinion but are worried it might be wrong, tweet it. https://twitter.com/eriktorenberg/status/1232900887946727424?s=20
Think of twitter as a tool to codify learnings:

If you don’t write something down, you won’t retain it

If you can’t summarize something, you don’t understand it

If you can’t compress it, you won’t be able to spread it https://twitter.com/eriktorenberg/status/1111453595688292354?s=20
Twitter’s feedback loop serves as a kind of space-repetition device by resurfacing your ideas to you.

Also the positive feedback encourages you to keep learning.

If you get ad-hominem responses, consider blocking (altho look past tone to find truth) https://twitter.com/eriktorenberg/status/1256036978597883904?s=20
Focus on the library, avoid the civil war: https://twitter.com/eriktorenberg/status/1227771430420377601?s=20

But: does something offend you? Good! Maybe you'll learn something (an additional POV, or if it not, deconstruct why it offends you). Good training.

Not being offended is a super power.
Don't have anything smart to say? Lower your bar to build the habit. If too scared, use a pseudonym to start.

Have no followers? Tweet into the void

Scared you'll look dumb? No one cares

Like anything else, it's a muscle. It'll feel weird at first but then become natural.
Make threads and then make threads of threads to organize your learnings: https://twitter.com/eriktorenberg/status/1250313333707665409?s=20

Twitter isn't exactly built for all these use cases.

Roam Research is specifically designed for them so use it instead (or in addition) https://twitter.com/eriktorenberg/status/1111453595688292354?s=20
