The damage this virus has done to jobs & businesses has been devastating.

From early on, we've worked to support our residents and small businesses:
✔️ Residential eviction ban
✔️ Rent & utility aid
✔️ Tax filing delay
✔️ Expanded unemployment
✔️ Small biz loan & grant programs
We must do more. The legislature must convene so we can begin to put our financial and economic house back in order, even as we battle this terrible virus. I'll work with the GA and our federal partners on a comprehensive plan to support families, small businesses & small towns.
We need federal dollars and state action to provide:

✔️ Rent and mortgage assistance for small businesses
✔️ Grants and loans for business starts and restarts
✔️ Tax credits for Small Business Job Recovery
✔️ Distribution of CARES funds to small cities and towns
As we work to keep our residents safe and gradually reopen businesses, I hope the legislature will act expeditiously to support jobs and economic recovery.

Until then, I'll continue to implement programs under my purview as governor, which brings me to today's announcement.
Today, I'm announcing a new $25 million @IllinoisDCEO program to help local governments jumpstart planned capital projects for the summer construction season that might have otherwise been canceled due to revenue loss related to COVID-19. https://twitter.com/IllinoisDCEO/status/1260312550119522308
Funded by our Rebuild Illinois infrastructure program, the Fast Track Capital Grant program will keep key public infrastructure projects in the pipeline and support the return of skilled labor to job sites for the busy summer season.
Starting today, local governments with shovel ready projects – including school districts, townships, and other entities – can apply for this funding.
