Stream of Consciouness: I’m too fucking exhausted to do a proper thread so this is going to have to do for those of you who for some reason five give a fuck what I think about the cases to get Trump’s financials. Here goes....
First, Kegstand Kav is the only guy who seemed to want to weasel out of deciding the House cases. He’s the only one who asked “process” questions. Everyone else focused on the merits, so I expect the House cases are going to be resolved on the merits and not on a technicality.
Second, it’s pretty clear that all of the Justices are (rightly) troubled by the notion that a single house of Congress could gin up “legislative purposes” for subpoenas just to harass a POTUS. I’m troubled by that, and you should be too. But that doesn’t mean Trump’s gonna win.
What it means is that SCOTUS is unlikely to look at the three House subpoenas solely to determine whether there was a valid legislative purpose. Case in point: The Financial Services subpoena to Deutsche Bank. That one is pretty weak and I doubt it survives.
House Fin Serv Committee says they need Trump’s DB records to make Trump a test case for money laundering laws. Face it, that’s some weak sauce. I never liked that subpeona and the Justices didn’t seem to like it either.
Good news is that House Intelligence also subpoenaed DB and they clearly have a legit reason for getting the records...to see whether Trump is compromised by indebtedness to and money laundering for Russia.

Bingo, that shit is legit and several Justices zeroed in on that.
I think the Court will find that Financial Services doesn’t need Trump’s DB documents, but House Intel does. That would be a good and fair ruling, and it would royally fuck Trump. Score one for the good guys.
House Oversight subpoenaed Mazars based on Michael Cohen’s testimony that the Trump Org cooks the books. Based on that testimony, they want to see whether Trump’s federal financial disclosures line up with his tax returns. Sounds legit to me even if you require a higher standard.
So even if SCOTUS says House subpoenas have to meet some higher standard than just having a valid legislative purpose, I think House Intel and House Oversight meet whatever standard that might be.
Moving on to the Manhattan DA subpoena to Mazars...

None of the Justices seemed to buy Trump’s argument that he’s absolutely immune, but all of them seemed worried about a POTUS getting investigated out the wazoo on State criminal charges. So they will look to thread the needle.
Seems pretty clear that the Manhattan DA’s subpoena will meet whatever heightened standard SCOTUS comes up with, but I can see the case being sent down to the District Court to apply a new standard. That would suck, but that’s the worst case scenario. No way Trump wins outright.
You can mindfuck yourself trying to climb into the Justices’ heads and figure out how they will rule.

The cases are over. Now we wait.

Expect rulings in late June or early July.
