I see tweets suggesting that some #COVID-19 patients might develop ME/CFS-like symptoms, and that’s reasonable. But if we want the broader research community to make that potential connection then we need more ME/CFS research teams that actually study infection #MECFSAwarenessDay
2/ We need more microbiologists + virologists in the field. The specific infections patients sustain need to be included in ME/CFS models/research projects (as opposed to a focus on factors SURROUNDING infection in #MECFS, or psychosocial variables associated w/ infectious onset)
3/ We also need teams studying #SARSCoV2 w/ advanced technologies to use those same tools on pathogens (herpesviruses, enteroviruses etc) already known to infect patients w/ #ME/CFS, and to search for potentially undiscovered pathogens in ME/CFS blood, tissue, nerves, brain etc
