Just after finding out that @BGETheatre are running a competition where you can win tickets to every musical for the next year, and you can bet I'm going to make sure I do everything I can to try and win those tickets... #BGETdressup
So with that said, I'm going to post a costume a day till the competition closes using only bits and bobs that I can find around the house. Apologies to anyone following me having to put up with this for the next few days!!! Right, let's get rid of that quarantine boredom!
Day 1: We're going back to the first musical I was introduced to... @bookofmormonuk. I had everything needed lying about from a costume party 5 years ago so here's a before and after (the hair's changed a bit!!). @BGETheatre #BGETdressup
Day 2: Definitely went a bit more DIY today trying to make a blue striped polo (they're not easy to come by) for today's look, Evan from @DEHWestEnd. Blue PVC tape had to do. Made up for it though by breaking into the stash of toilet roll for the cast!! @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
Day 3: Quarantine giving me plenty of time to go over those piano skills I haven't used since Leaving Cert, oh and also to throw a little something together from @PhantomOpera. Who can guess how many hours it took to get the mask to stick to my face?... @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
Day 4: Since Disney+ arrived on the game have been obsessed with @Newsies! And lucky for you dear reader, you can witness the moment I realised my trousers had ripped whilst trying to do the iconic jump from the poster (with help from the trampoline)... @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
Day 5: Two looks today but to convey one character, master of foolery Frank Abagnale Jr. from @CatchMeMusical. And did you know I've just fooled you?! See, it's not a stethoscope in the second photo but a skipping rope! Call me master of costume design... @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
Day 6: Children should be seen and not heard! Today's look is Miss Trunchbull from one of my favourite musicals @MatildaMusical. With music by @timminchin and book by Dennis Kelly you really can't go wrong with it!! Now, where's my chocolate cake?... @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
Day 7: I didn’t have a clarinet, so the flute had to do for today’s look of Squidward Tentacles from @SpongeBobBway. Probably one of the most underrated shows which I’ve had the chance to see (and would love to see in future at the Bord Gáis 👀) @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
Day 8: I knew having a parachute in the house would come in handy! If the neighbours “drew back the curtains” they’d wonder what was going on (get it, it’s a lyric!) today’s look is from @JosephMusical. Nearly flew off when a gust of wind hit the coat!! @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
Day 9: WHAT, ARE YOU DOING, IN MY SWAMP?! Using the idea from the BGET’s socials I decided to make homemade face paint for today’s look from @ShrekMusicalUK. Trying to think of another musical where I can use up the rest of the paint... hmm I wonder?? @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
Day 10: Have been absolutely obsessed with the soundtrack for @hadestown so it definitely had to make the cut. Fun fact, did you know that Reeve Carney who plays Orpheus was the original Spider-Man on Broadway? 👀 @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
Dayo 11: Sometimes puppet shows are sad. Yes today’s look is of course Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! From the musical, you guessed it @BeetlejuiceBway. Who knew tape could get you so far in costume making!!! @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
Day 12: Let’s just act like the ladder is in fact tall enough to reach the chimney!! We’re coming to the final stretch today with Bert from @MaryPoppins. Literally still think back to when the he tap danced upside down at the BGET back in 2016. @BGETheatre #BGETDressUp
