2/4 Since March the CDEI has been working with NHSX as it develops a COVID-19 contact tracing app. In particular, the CDEI supports the new Ethics Advisory Board established to provide constructive challenge to the app development team.

3/4 It was interesting to discuss the common challenges public servants are dealing with. The CDEI has worked with the NHSX EAB to identify a set of core principles to guide the app development:

[4] Transparency
[5] Control

4/4 These principles reflect those in the Data Ethics Framework ( https://bit.ly/2WoBuNq ) published by @DCMS. The core principles of the Data Ethics Framework also advocate user need and public benefit, data minimisation and proportionality and transparency and accountability.
