We are Disconnected: Forest Bathing bridges the gap to nature. I ponder: is starting with nature the key to deconstructing the containers of modern society and allowing our senses to connect with every moment as we rebuild from this industrialized disaster?
By staying at home during #COVID19 - away from work containers, school containers, etc - we have been immersed in a world that is foreign to many, opening many eyes to the actual disaster, which is not the virus - but what we have neglected in our lives, in the name of industry.
Our current day to day world that feels foreign to us, is similar to the feeling most of would have if we were outside all day, away from our home container. I'm not suggesting we leave industry or continue to stay at home, but rather we should all pause as we begin whats next.
I have found 2 hours outside just breathing, is almost awkward at first, but after making it a habit, it has helped me connect and appreciate all the sights, sounds, tastes, smells and touches of my home container - giving me more clarity to prioritize my other containers
With the opportunity to reconstruct our containers, we all need to think about what makes us human - appreciating the toddler screaming for what it really means - beginning the process of counter balancing our priorities for new containers, before we are put back in our old ones.
