THREAD
Let’s put a things into perspective. @ClydeSSB @TEnglishSport @BBCSportsound. (All predicated on we know this is a unique & fraught time).

1. The SPFL are the clubs & many wanted an end to the season.
2. 24/48 hours to read a proposal is not rushed. Common practice.
1/
3. Every single club knew about financial or possible financial penalties from sponsors. If they didn’t they were derelict in their duty.
4. The Dundee vote was messy but governance always is; that does not equate to underhandedness. Claiming so is absurd.
2/
5. Dundee had every right to change their vote. In fact by law they had 28 days to do so. They also owed no one an explanation.
6. Bullying is nonsense. Within voting communities vigorous campaigning is the norm. It’s called lobbying. Nothing nefarious about it whatsoever.
3/
7. Since the messy but wholly valid vote, the media have been an embarrassment in claiming this was somehow sinister. As pointed out, nothing unusual happened. Contentious talks/lobbying does not equal misconduct.
8. At no point has any evidence of of such been proffered.
4/
9. Heated debate within democratic institutions isn’t just the norm but encouraged. To allege this as nefarious coercion is both ignorance & an insult to the strong men & women who lead these clubs. Again, this was asserted by rangers & the media without a shred of evidence.
5/
10. After the breathless promotion of the rangers’ “dossier”, even its biggest proponents admitted to it being nowhere near to the smoking gun as initially advertised.
11. As pointed to previously not only was it not a smoking gun it simply pointed out normal governance.
6/
11. That Stewart Robertson, rangers MD & SPFL board member, was somehow unaware of the facts surrounding the matters in hand beggars belief & *if* true points to a dereliction of duty by him. To claim to be a blind pawn in this is absurd. He is not fit for purpose if true.
7/
12. After being told Hearts & Stranraer were as integral as rangers in this call for an investigation, why were they not involved in the dossier & have had nothing to say on the matter since? Surely they had material evidence *or* was there involvement simply self-serving?
8/
13. That rangers, the worst run club in the league, are complaining (erroneously) of poor governance is beyond galling. That they are not a “going concern” after record losses & an inability to produce timely financial statements is a controversy itself that appears off limits
9/
14. This brings us to the obvious bad faith arguments. Everyone in Scotland knows rangers initiated this sham hoping to stop Celtic winning the league & Hearts/Stranraer did so to avoid relegation. Anyone positing otherwise is being disingenuous - all and sundry know this.
10/
15. Now that the clubs have spoken & an investigation won’t take place, will rangers accept the vote of their fellow clubs or now go down a path of more chaos? If they do, it will be with no evidence & also risk making an already precarious situation worse.
11/
16. It is time for the media to take stock & admit upon reflection this whole ordeal was a fool’s errand - that they simply do not understand corporate governance & the actions of the SPFL were as normal as any taken by an association’s board. Nothing unusual took place.
12/
17. Scottish football is in dire straights. This pandemic is an existential threat to it. The clubs & the media need to move swiftly to find solutions.

Also importantly, they need to move on because this entire ordeal was baseless nonsense.
ADDENDUM
Just before it gets misconstrued in the media: the resolution as voted down was simply for an inquiry, the 13 clubs who voted did do for that.

To construe it as anything other would be unfounded. If rangers wanted a “no confidence” vote they should have presented one.
