Although I've played 40k since ~1989, I was never really grabbed by the Ork models until 3rd Edition.

There is much affection for the true #OldHammer Orks but for me this era is the best. They looked... proppa.

The new Ork HQ models looked really killy.

Warboss
Konverted Nazdreg
Warlord Ghazghkull Thraka
Mad Dok Grotsnik
The Mega-Armoured Nobs were absolute bricks and the regular Nobs were pretty fighty too.
The boyz luckily (or by design) lent themselves to extensive konversions as well as making standard Slugga, Shoota and 'Ard Boyz. It really helped that the Fantasy Orks were fully compatible.
The same Boyz could also be used to make Tankbustas, (Red Skull) Kommandos and Cyborks.
The Burna Boyz originally only had a few gas-axe weilding loonies in it. The rest could be Slugga and Choppa or Shoota. I amalgamated all my Burnas when this changed.
The Stormboyz models were some of the first I bought but the Nob required some kunnin' to build
Heavy Support had (I believe) new Zzap Guns, Killer Kans, and Slavers.

(also a photo-bombing Mekboy).
There were also rules for my beloved Looted Vehicles 😍
Finally, the Battlewagons which, again, tended to be er... ex-Imperial.

The Land Raider was known as "Da Flak Magnit".
