Following up, among the promotional toys where these balls that could be pulled apart with Pokemon in them. In December of 1999, a little girl passed away from suffocation and this was assumed to be why, among other reasons. A recall on all the toys happened in 2000.
I think everyone already knows cup ramen is insanely popular in Japan lol, but Pokemon cup noodles have been sold in convenience stores in Japan since gen 1. Still sold today.
The next collaboration: Kelloggs! They really went all in on the Pokemon craze in the late 90s/early 2000s. When gen 2 released, they did a second wave of pop tarts called Pokeberry, marketing the third movie. Kelloggs still occasionally does Nintendo stuff.
