. @PoliceUg released footage capturing an incident involving a lady who slipped & fell in a channel in Nakawa during heavy rains in Kampala on 2nd May 2020.
As seen from the CCTV cameras, the unfortunate incident occurred during the rains with drains flowing at full capacity...
This is to clarify the following:

1 — The victim fell in a roadside drain (during the rains) and NOT in an open Manhole. This drain forms part of a system (constructed in 2001) that drains both New Portbell Road and Jinja Road and Nakawa traffic junction...
2 — The drain is well lined and is about 1.5m wide by 1m deep
There is a 1-2m walkway besides the drain for use by the pedestrians....
3 — From the CCTV Camera, it appears that the victim’s body was carried through a 600mm diametr cross culvert located at the junction of the two drains (for Jinja road and New PortBell road).
