My son’s school has upgraded to Google Classroom.

This means they send me a PDF of a Powerpoint in Google Drive. To do the work, I’m supposed to convert this to a Word doc (using a Google docs extension called ‘dochub’) and type into it.

I wish I was making this up.

One effect of lockdown will be accelerated adoption of new tech. But another effect is people adopting it before it's ready, or adopting the wrong tech with the wrong training, making a big mess of it, and then dismissing the whole thing and running back to analogue

Classrooms, Powerpoint, Word and Google Docs are all good tools. But they're not good tools for *this*.
