here's a thread of alt/metal/punk WOC musicians!! @cherryredbass's thread inspired me to create a similar thread with only women. i'm recommending songs for y'all to listen to as well!!

krimewatch! rhylli is their frontwoman. she sings in english and japanese, and their music is super fucking cool.

aye nako! guitarist/vocalist jade payne is a queer woc with the coolest hair ever. i’ve liked this band for a while, so i’m excited to mention them here!!

x-ray spex! their vocalist poly styrene was a WOC and brought so much life and fun to the british punk/ska scene in the 70s.

youth man! their vocalist kaila whyte is a WOC who has INCREDIBLE vocals. i absolutely fell in love with her while i was researching. give them a shot.

alekhine’s gun! this band is a LOT heavier than the others on this list but their vocalist jessica pimentel is an unbelievably talented WOC so i included them anyway. (she also acted in oitnb)

nova twins! @cherryredbass mentioned them in her og thread but i had to bring them up again cause they’re amazing. a super fun british punk/pop act, both members (amy love and georgia south) are WOC!

stiffed! this band SLAPS. their vocalist santi white is a WOC who went on to create a solo act under the name santigold!

BABYMETAL!! this thread absolutely wouldn’t be complete without mentioning them. they’re so fun and i /still/ get their music stuck in my head even though i don’t listen often.

the tuts! this group is SO FUN and i’m half in love with every member in the band. 2/3 members - nadia javed and beverly ishmael - are WOC!
